Solidarity with Puerto Rico

Hurricane Fiona has left the entire island of Puerto Rico without power and 75% of the island without clean water. The southwestern part of the island endured the most devastation—the same area that was damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017 and an earthquake in 2019. As shared by Rudi Muhammad to the United Nations in 2010, international solidarity is a precondition to human dignity, the basis of all human rights, and a human-centered approach to development. We also know the Black and brown nations and regions are the mostly likely to be underfunded and undersupported by government aid and international disaster relief. Please consider supporting the following community-based groups and funds that are committed to immediate relief and building long-term sustainable solutions to support the safety of Puerto Ricans in the wake of future natural disasters.
