Ohio Women’s Alliance (OWA) is a power-building Reproductive Justice organization providing programming, resources, and education for women, gender-expansive people, and youth across Ohio. Our vision is an Ohio where all people can thrive—where women and gender-expansive people have the power to make decisions about their lives, their families, and their communities. Rooted in Reproductive Justice, our mission is to ensure access to safe communities, equitable education, holistic health care and wellness, inclusive democracy, and economic prosperity. This role will work across Ohio Women’s Alliance (a 501(c)(3) and Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund (a 501(c)(4)), both nonprofit entities with intersecting yet separate missions.
Position Title: Central Ohio Organizer
Reports To: Senior Manager of Social Impact
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: The candidate must be based in central Ohio. The position is remote and provides access to office space located in Columbus, Ohio. Consistent attendance at Columbus-area events is required, along with occasional in-state travel for in-person events, meetings, and other activities.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Social Impact, the Central Ohio Organizer is responsible for developing and executing relational organizing, power-building, communal care, and civic engagement initiatives for both the Ohio Women’s Alliance and the Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund. This role's primary goal is to mobilize members to build power and drive sustainable, long-term change for equitable communities. Key responsibilities include year-round volunteer recruitment and management to support base-building and communal care/wellness, voter and issue education, BIPOC empowerment, and brand awareness through a Reproductive Justice lens.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Work in close collaboration with the communications team to uplift programmatic work
Build up a strong volunteer base with an understanding of democracy-building through a Reproductive Justice lens
Work to build our general membership base to reflect diverse identities and those most historically oppressed (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, various ages and abilities, etc.)
Represent OWA at coalition meetings, partner convenings, and community gatherings
Build and maintain strong relationships with community-based organizations, service providers, and movement partners
Execution of civic engagement work, which includes voter education and direct voter contact
Produce event materials, including written and printed materials, swag, and other items.
Potential supervision of interns and fellows
Data management within the OWA CRM (EveryAction and VAN) for tracking and reporting numeric goals such as event attendance for civic engagement, communal care, and power-building organizing campaigns
Plan and manage programmatic events related to OWA programs and projects, volunteer engagement, and base-building, including training sessions and large-scale public events such as community conversations, town halls, public meetings, and demonstrations.
Coordinate issue-centered objectives and actions with allied coalitions.

A minimum of 3-4 years of organizing and field experience
Demonstrated ability to effectively build and sustain durable relationships with a wide variety of people
Strong project management, time management, and planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects forward independently
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to travel regularly within a multi-county region and occasionally throughout and outside the state of Ohio
Ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships
Must be self-directed and self-starting, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
Strong spoken and written communication skills.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to take decisive action
Fluency with Google Suite, including Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides, and Drive
Experience with any of the following platforms is a plus, though not required (training will be provided): EveryAction, Reach, Slack, CallHub
A valid driver’s license and the ability to reliably travel to required locations are required.

Start Date, Compensation & Benefits
This position is fully remote, except for travel to mandatory staff gatherings, strategic planning sessions, events, or in-person lobbying. The annual salary for this position is $60,000. This is a full-time, exempt position based on a 35-40-hour workweek. The majority of our work takes place from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm EST, but requires frequent work during evenings and weekends based on program needs.

Eligible staff receive 22 days of paid time off and observe 13 holidays.
Accessibility Info & Physical Requirements:
This position is designed to be mostly remote with the option to utilize our shared office space in downtown Columbus. While daily work is mostly remote, there is an expectation to attend occasional in-person meetings and events.
Our shared office space is located in a building less than a block from accessible public transportation
This office has an entrance with no steps near free, accessible parking and an elevator.
The office has an ADA accessible bathroom
Physical requirements include: long periods of sitting, working on a computer in chunks of time that can extend to 8-hour days, consistent communication via computer, driving/being transported for occasional travel
