Jamie Blunt
YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AWARD
Jamie Blunt is the founder and visionary behind Brown Girls Mentoring (Brown Girls), a transformative organization dedicated to empowering young girls and women to become the best versions of themselves. A proud Columbus, Ohio native, Jamie has made it her mission to set an authentic standard for young brown girls, inspiring them to embrace their unique journeys.
Jamie’s passion for mentorship is rooted in her own life lessons, shaped by the influence of her late grandmothers. They instilled in her the values of prayer, self-worth, and a no-nonsense approach to letting go of anything that doesn’t serve one’s purpose. These foundational principles guide the structure and ethos of Brown Girls, which seeks to equip girls with the tools to thrive and pay it forward in their communities.
A natural leader and servant at heart, Jamie’s dedication to empowering others is reflected in her personal and professional milestones. She is a TEDxColumbus speaker, sharing her impactful journey and inspiring others to embrace their authentic selves. She is also a participant and graduate of the prestigious African American Leadership Academy, a member of The Columbus Foundation, and a committed advocate for community advancement.
In addition to her work with Brown Girls, Jamie serves on the Marketing and Development Committee for Impact Community Action, a nonprofit dedicated to serving families across Columbus. She is also a board member for YES! Columbus, which helps women achieve economic independence through career support and development opportunities.
Her unwavering belief in individuality and self-acceptance is a cornerstone of her mentorship philosophy. As she often tells her mentees: “You don’t have to fit in. When God created you to stand out.” In today’s fast-paced, media-driven world, Jamie’s message resonates as a much-needed reminder to celebrate authenticity over conformity.
Through Brown Girls and her ongoing community work, Jamie is building a lasting legacy—one that empowers girls and women to lead, inspire, and create a ripple effect of positive change for generations to come.
