Justice for Jayland Walker

Ohio Women’s Alliance is outraged by the murder of Jayland Walker at the hands of officers from the Akron Police Department. State-sanctioned violence is an intentional tactic of white supremacy and is, yet again, responsible for the death of an unarmed Black person. The heinous manner in which Jayland was murdered warrants a full investigation, uniterrupted by Akron PD or any other governing body. We demand justice for Jayland Walker and his family and we will not stop fighting until the Akron Police Department is held accountable for taking Jayland from his family, his friends, and his community. This act was a violation of human and reproductive rights; Reproductive Justice understands that police violence is a disruption to our ability to raise children in a safe environment and we are committed to resisting the institutions that protect police at the expense of our lives.
